While listening to #ThrowbackThursday on the radio on my way into work I realised how much music and memories are associated, and how you can associate music, the tunes and the lyrics with what you are currently working on or surrounded by.

It probably is also something to do with who you are, what you hear when listening to music, which is your dominant brain half, or whatever. I mean I noticed on our blog that we have another 2 articles somehow including music, and they are both written or researched for by yours truly.

Well, here’s another one, a playlist of songs to live by to ensure business success, and a wrap-up of what we are doing over here at Corporate Candy: Independent Consulting for Talent Management, Advisory for HR Departments and Executive Coaching & Leadership Development.

If nothing else, it’s a light Friday piece and I promise you it will welcome the weekend accordingly. Turn it up!

It starts with you

Be the change.

Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

Executive Coaching is a way forward to become, or get back to being, the leader you always wanted to be, and know you can be.

It starts with you.

Tribe Up!

Company culture and thrive and success is vital for attracting and retaining top talent.

Can’t stop the feeling - Justin Timberlake

I got this feeling inside my bones
It goes electric, wavey when I turn it on
All through my city, all through my home
We're flying up, no ceiling, when we in our zone

For the very best results, the care of all stakeholders and the company's corporate and social responsibility are best serviced when coupled smoothly with the commercial goals of the organisation. Finding the balance between the vary requirements is key, and it will take all stakeholders + company to the zone, giving them the wings to fly, no ceiling, no limits…

Be the b*stard

Invest in the talents and let the rest go.

Live and let die - Paul McCartney & Wings

When you were young and your heart was an open book
You used to say live and let live
But if this ever changin' world
In which we live in
Makes you give in and cry
Say live and let die

By the very nature, growth and success quite rightly provide a business with an abundance of positivity.  All too often this broad positivity can lead to an individual, team or entire department being given remits and responsibilities beyond their current skill sets. But sometimes a fabulous soldier is just not suited to becoming a great officer.  If this situation occurs, using external suppliers to assess and report, hence de-personalising the situation can be even more beneficial than ever as both bad feelings and potentially costly legal challenges may be easier to avoid.

Live and let die.

Act and react!

Sometimes the usual suspects need reviewing and breaking away from.

You Can't Always Get What You Want – Rolling Stones

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need

Due to poor leadership, direction, targeting and not questioning the status quo internal talent attraction and recruitment teams often fail to secure the best staff in a timely manner. Do you have the best procedures, practices, protocols and people in order?

Don’t be that Guy/Gal

Motivate by delegating, integrating, appreciating.

 9 To 5 - Dolly Parton

They let you dream just to watch 'em shatter
You're just a step on the boss-man's ladder
But you got dreams he'll never take away
You're in the same boat with a lotta your friends
Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in
An' the tide's gonna turn and it's all gonna roll your way.

Sitting at the top of the corporate ladder can be a lonely experience if you don’t embrace or have the ability to embrace those around you. Being self-aware and capable of embracing others is an essential strategy not just for success, but in managing the stress that “comes with the job”.

Bonus track

Just because! It’s an awesome song and wonderfully inappropriate.

Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
